PostSubject: Missed Opportunities   3/25/2014, 8:33 pm

Let's ask ourselves these 3 questions...

Is this a failed attempt?
Or is this perhaps one that is not meant to happen right now for one reason or another?
Or is this not meant to happen at all?

These opportunities can be in reference to many different things in life. For example; it may be the opportunity to start a new career, get married, have a child, make amends with someone, go to back to school, buy a home or other material things, take a vacation, participate in a specific event or celebration, and so on...

Sometimes there are windows open for us to see something, and we "think" it is an opportunity to have, say, or do whatever it is. And yet, when attempted, we don't get the results that we are looking for and it appears that it was a missed opportunity. When in fact it may just simply mean that it is not meant to happen right now, or you need to travel a new path in order to make the achievements that you are looking for. Traveling a new path can also include learning experiences. Sometimes we need a learning experience in order to have the wisdom, strength, and will to achieve something as well. Taking everything into consideration, these opportunities are not out of your reach. And with careful evaluation, learning through your experience, diligent action, and a positive attitude...it can be done.

There are some things that we perceive to be an opportunity, sometimes attempted, and appeared to have failed. Many of these are simply not meant for us, period. Perhaps there was a family celebration that you could not attend due to work. This was simply not meant for you. Of course you are good enough to attend it, that's not what we are in reference to here; it means that there was a reason why you were suppose to be at work and not at the family gathering. And the reason may not have anything to do with you what so ever. Have you ever had a situation happen where you planned to be somewhere, and plans changed so you didn't go? And you find out later that you were needed in a certain place to be a type of assistance to someone else in need? Or there was a fire, car crash, plane crash, etc.; and had you done what you originally planned you would have been a part of that tragedy. This is another example of what we thought at first was a missed opportunity, but the fact is that it was not a missed opportunity because it wasn't meant for us in the first place. When things like this come about that you feel are a missed opportunity, accept them for what they are, as if it just wasn't meant for you.

Some things are considered a missed opportunity that was driven by greed. This life of ours is a journey, and should be treated as such. We are not here to score one, if you will. Sometimes we get caught up in trying to keep score with someone else, including keeping score with ourselves. The all too common phrase "Keeping up with the Jones's" only keeps a person constantly dissatisfied with life all together. When living life with this concept in mind, there is never enough, and there will always seem to be a mountain of missed opportunities in this case! And life passes them by, all the while overlooking what blessings and opportunities that lay right in front of them. When in fact that is not why we are here (a victory, fame, fortune, or a label we call ourselves), certainly we have a much deeper purpose in life.

Determine if something is a missed opportunity or if it is not meant for you. If not accept it and move on with life. If it is meant for you, then choose the path that will lead you in the right direction to make it happen. Over all, missed opportunities are simply that. And regardless of what we appear to have missed out on, there will always be more wonderful things in life to experience. Move forward in life in a positive direction, and the rewards will come. When they do, embrace every moment, and you will find in time that you have no missed opportunities...that you are living life to it's fullest, in the way it is suppose to be.
